Stand Tall, From The Inside Out
Physiotherapy
The ScoliClinic is proud to offer scoliosis-specific physiotherapy services to kids, teens, and adults with scoliosis or Scheuermann's Kyphosis via the traditional format of in-person sessions, or via Virtual Physiotherapy Sessions called 'Telehealth'!
Your initial assessment will start with an in-depth conversation about you (or your child’s) scoliosis history. Next, we will do a physical assessment to gather baseline measures, explaining the significance of what we’re measuring every step of the way. Then, we’ll explain our understanding of scoliosis - possible theories on how it starts, how it progresses, and where physiotherapy fits into the picture. If you have an Xray image, we'll also discuss our interpretation of the image and measurements. Finally, based on our findings, your goals and personal circumstances, we’ll come up with a therapy plan that is best for you or your child.
During your 1:1 follow-up sessions with your physio, you'll learn:
- how to find good posture in your own body
- activity modifications and pain management strategies
- tips on how to move through your daily life in the most spine-friendly way
- curve-specific exercises (also known as 'autocorrections') to teach your muscles to activate in a more symmetrical and efficient way to hold your spine in an optimal alignment
Our goal is to help you feel more empowered to care for your spine, whether it's in the clinic, or in the comfort of your own home.
Registered Massage Therapy
Our RMTs have collaborated with our Schroth-trained Physiotherapists to provide curve-specific massage treatments. Each client’s X-Ray images and clinical notes from the Physiotherapist are taken into account when planning the massage sessions to address any muscular imbalances in the trunk, shoulders, pelvis, or elsewhere.
A mix of hands-on techniques will be used while maintaining a high level of hygiene and sanitization.
At the end of each massage session, clients complete Schroth exercises, core activations, or other strengthening exercises to strengthen the musculature in their newfound lengths.

A little bit about me:
Growing up in a developing country taught me the importance of keeping therapy practical, affordable, and flexible because every client’s situation is different. I’m all about making each session count while staying focused on what matters most to the families I work with. I really value the time, trust, and effort my clients put into physiotherapy, and my goal is to give them the tools and support they need to feel confident managing their curves.
I’m here to grow with my clients and be there for them through the wins, the setbacks, and everything in between.
What to expect in a session with me:
I strive for collaborative connections with my clients, working to understand each curve together, find what’s valuable to each person, and breaking down the complexities and factors of each curve.
I’m committed to learning together with and from my clients, and applying my experiences to create a holistic approach to health management. I appreciate treating clients who already find value in what they do, and am passionate about supporting and encouraging others to also see their own value.

A little about me:
I was born and raised in North Vancouver. At age 13, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. With my curve already quite advanced at the time of diagnosis, I was advised to wait for surgical intervention, with no bracing or other conservative management options offered in the meantime. At age 15, I underwent spinal fusion surgery.
The physiotherapists who guided me through my hospital recovery left a lasting impression on me and sparked my interest in becoming a physiotherapist. However, when I returned home, I found myself struggling with unanswered questions about my changed body, its potential for movement, and what my life would look like going forward.
Years later, I discovered The ScoliClinic, where I experienced first-hand how scoliosis-specific treatment could enhance both my quality of life and my confidence in my own body. Until then, I had believed that fusion surgery marked the end of my scoliosis journey. However, after learning what I did at TSC, I came to realize there was still so much more that I could do to optimize my health and wellbeing. This shift in perspective not only highlighted how I could play an active role in my treatment but also solidified my passion for supporting others with spinal conditions, ultimately inspiring me to join the team!
When not at work, you’ll often find me outside playing sports (volleyball, pickleball, running, swimming, weightlifting), spending time with my dog, going to concerts and movies, or reading a good book. Feel free to ask me how my yearly Goodreads reading challenge is going!
What to expect in a session with me:
Living with scoliosis, hyperkyphosis, and other spinal conditions can impact how we move and feel in our bodies. Although these conditions may share similarities, every person’s experience is unique, which is why I strive to personalize treatment to your specific needs and goals – whether it’s building strength, improving posture and mobility, increasing participation, or reducing pain, we will work together to determine a plan that is best for you.
My goal is to empower you with knowledge and tools needed to better understand and manage your condition, while helping you move with greater confidence. I am committed to creating an inclusive space where clients from all walks of life feel welcome.
I look forward to being a part of your health and wellness journey!

A little bit about me:
I was raised amidst the natural beauty of Langley, BC, where my passion for knowledge began early. Before the days of Google, I would frequently subject the adults around me to my questions, which often led to me being sent to the library to complete my own research.
This early curiosity sparked my journey into the Sciences. After completing my Bachelor of Kinesiology, I pursued a Master of Science in Neuromuscular Physiology. My research in this field was truly fulfilling, but it lacked the human connection that I was craving. This is why I chose to become a Physiotherapist.
I am beyond excited to be working at The ScoliClinic with people who have scoliosis, hyperkyphosis and/or postural asymmetries. Having grown up with a minor curve myself, I find comfort being able to work in a space where people of all ages can learn about their curve(s) and engage in treatment options to optimize their health and well-being.
What to expect in a treatment session with me:
Scoliosis and hyperkyphosis involve more than just our spine or even our body, which is why I take a holistic approach in my sessions. I prioritize taking the time to learn about your goals, experiences, needs, and concerns, so that we can work together to develop a treatment approach that best suits you and your lifestyle.
I enjoy working with folks from diverse backgrounds and see individuals in all age groups, including young children and older adults. As an energetic and caring practitioner, I am eager to support, encourage, and empower you in your life’s journey with scoliosis.

A little bit about me:
With a 20-year background as a physiotherapist, I have encountered many people with scoliosis and always wanted to help them but had limited access to scoliosis-specific knowledge. Several years ago, my teenage daughter developed scoliosis and this motivated me to focus my career on scoliosis. I’ve seen the impact that scoliosis can have on different people, which made me eager to further develop my skills.
When I noticed my daughter had scoliosis, I brought her to The ScoliClinic. Going through this experience with her made me compassionate and empathetic towards the other teenagers and parents who are in similar situations.
As I’m originally from Iran, I am able to provide treatments in Farsi.
What to expect in a session with me:
I am passionate about making a difference in people’s lives by empowering them and supporting them in reaching their goals. I value collaborative, respectful, and compassionate connections with everyone I work with, colleagues and clients alike.
I base my treatment plans on each person’s unique needs and goals, so they are completely individualized from one to another.
The following experiences have helped me develop my practice:
- SEAS Level 1 (Scientific Exercises Approach to Scoliosis), 2025
- More than 20 years of experience in both public and private practice
- Owning a physiotherapy clinic in Iran
- Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, 2000

A little bit about me:
Becoming a physio has been a lifelong dream, and supporting people with scoliosis since graduation has been more fulfilling and rewarding than I could have imagined.
Growing up as a third-culture kid in the multi-cultural city of Paris, France has shaped me to have an insatiable curiosity for human diversity, attuned me to different ways of seeing the world, and has taught me to be highly adaptable. Moving to Canada for a degree in Kinesiology and having the opportunity to work in research satisfied my thirst for knowledge of the human body, but it is only in physio school and later at The ScoliClinic that I saw my passion for science and human connection meld together.
I was diagnosed with scoliosis and hyperkyphosis at the age of 13 and received little support from the medical system. In hindsight, I was disconnected from my body, had little awareness of how my diagnosis was affecting me physically and emotionally, and had no idea what I could do to care for my body.
One of my favourite parts of journeying as a physiotherapist with people of all ages with scoliosis, hyperkyphosis, and other postural deviations is facilitating a path to empowerment and success by providing information, exercising a discerning eye on what key factors may be influencing a pain experience, and creating a highly personalized exercise plan. I feel passionate about creating a safe space where individuals can come wherever they are on their journey and leave feeling heard with one concrete step they can take to move forward.
What to expect in a session with me:
One of the things I like to tell my clients is: “you can’t change a posture you are not aware of”. When needed, my approach will often involve having people start by connecting to their body through movement to build a larger brain body map and create awareness of common postural strategies. With some level of awareness, it is much easier to build strength and develop new and more aligned postural habits.
In situations of pain or discomfort, I enjoy playing detective to figure out which body parts may be playing victim vs. perpetrator. The Integrated Systems Model series by Diane Lee has provided me with fantastic tools to expedite this process. At times I will use acupuncture as an adjunct tool to facilitate treatment.
Finally, when appropriate, I love having conversations around the emotional impact of scoliosis and the bigger life lessons that can be drawn from the scoliosis/postural journey. How can learning to care for your posture be a springboard to loving yourself better? I enjoy developing collaborative plans to build some positive momentum towards greater health/well-being.
I can’t wait to meet you! The ScoliClinic is a beautifully inclusive space and I am confident that you will feel supported by every team member you encounter here.

I’m a clinical researcher with a passion for advancing scoliosis care through safe and effective imaging techniques. Originally from Iran, I completed my undergraduate studies in radiology and developed a strong interest in non-ionizing imaging methods—particularly ultrasound—after working in a trauma hospital.
In 2016, I moved to Canada to pursue graduate studies, completing my PhD at the University of Alberta with a focus on scoliosis imaging. I joined The ScoliClinic as a post-doctoral fellow, where I now work as a researcher and data scientist.
My current projects aim to support clinicians—like physiotherapists and orthotists—in improving treatment outcomes for people with scoliosis. By analyzing clinical data and collaborating closely with the team, I hope to contribute meaningfully to the field and make a lasting impact on patient care.

A little bit about me:
I am from and was raised in a small countryside town in Puerto Rico, and have lived and explored the states of Colorado, California, Florida, and Connecticut in the U.S. Now, I study, explore, and live in beautiful Vancouver, B.C.
I am a graduate of Langara College’s Registered Massage Therapy Program, which is a recognized school in the CMTBC bylaws. Langara is also accredited with the national accrediting body for massage therapy education in Canada, the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA).
I enjoy walking my dogs, hiking, traveling, and reading to stay up to date on the science of massage. Promoting patient education, in efforts to help them understand possible contributing factors to their symptoms, and help patients manage their own symptoms beyond treatments, by encouraging them to participate in active rehabilitation.
I have worked as a Community Ambassador for the Arts, Linguist, Phlebotomist, Trainer for Youth Gang Prevention, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Victim Advocate, Youth Support Partner for LGBTQIA+, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist before moving to Vancouver.
What to expect in a session with me:
I enjoy thinking outside the box with those I work with to see what is effective for them and how we can better individualize the treatment based on their journey to rehabilitation or whatever recover may look like for them.
I enjoy working with the nervous system; its tolerance, preference, and responses to treatment. Sometimes we need to modify our approach to see if a different method may be more effective for the person receiving the treatment, so that longer term results can be achieved.

A little bit about me:
I was born in Calgary, AB to a set of caring first-generation Indo-Tanzanian Ismaili immigrant parents. My personal experience managing my mild scoliosis in early adulthood intensified my curiosity in how the body works, and led me to apply to physiotherapy school.
My undergraduate background in psychology makes me particularly interested in the power of specific behaviour change to evolve a person’s self esteem, body awareness, and experience of pain. I enjoy working with people at all life stages, and have also been fortunate to support people from a variety of communities including LGBTQ2S+ folks, Indigenous people, people with different learning needs, and those people preparing for or recovering from surgery.
In my free time I enjoy biking around the city, bouldering, meditation, beach picnics, and watching movies.
What to expect in a session with me:
I hope to encourage an increased sense of body awareness in my clients, and to empower them towards self-improvement using an approach that is holistic, safe, adaptable, and inclusive. In our work together, I will observe your movement strategies and aim to draw your attention to compensatory movement strategies or postures that you may be using.
We can build more supportive patterns by selecting specialized exercises for you to practice, and by using tools such as manual therapy, and/or dry needling to facilitate. According to your personal goals, we will integrate your new learnings using breath work, yoga, weight lifting, or sport-specific training, and perform periodic postural re-assessments to track your progress.
Whether you are looking to decrease your discomfort, improve your postural endurance, or enhance your function in your activities, I look forward to guiding you in rewiring your connection to your body, and achieving your goals!

A little bit about me:
I was born and raised in the lower mainland of BC, and was diagnosed with scoliosis at age nine. I wore a brace for three years until I was told I would require corrective spinal fusion surgery at age 13. After two years on the surgical waitlist, I finally received the operation at age 15. While I remained active and healthy throughout the course of my treatment, I wasn’t ever aware of options for me to actively participate in my treatment.
I first discovered TSC while in Physio School – They taught me more about my scoliosis in 1 hour than I had learned in the 13 years since my initial diagnosis. I immediately felt empowered in my ability to understand and care for my own body and health. I wanted to pass this along to others living with spinal conditions, so decided to join the team!
In my first 3 years working at The ScoliClinic I have been inspired by the resilience of this community and the positive change they have been able to make in their lives when equipped with the necessary tools. Working with TSC allows me to utilize education, exercise prescription, manual therapy, and dry needling to support others along their journey.
What to expect in a session with me:
I utilize both my formal training and personal experience to support clients in reaching their goals and independently managing their health & well-being. My practice is largely movement-based, and I develop exercise plans to be unique to each person, their curve/spine, and their personal needs. I consider myself to be energetic yet calm, and you’ll likely receive a lot of encouragement from me as I want to empower you to actively care for yourself.
I strive to create an inclusive practice so that each client and their family members feel welcomed, seen, and heard. Your opinions and preferences about your treatment really matter, as your level of emotional comfort and safety are important to me.

A little bit about me:
I am the 4th generation of my family born & raised in small North West Coastal city of Prince Rupert – a notoriously wet and friendly community! I felt deeply rooted and connected to the people there growing up but always wanted to explore the diverse opportunities and learnings of a bigger city. I am grateful that TSC has offered me the opportunity create a connected community in “the big city”, across the country, and even the world that feels like home! My family always had strong matriarchal figures whom I looked up to for many reasons. I think about them often and it makes me very proud now to be a leader in our TSC family.
My interest in scoliosis and initial drive to join The ScoliClinic came from personal experience. I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was nine, wore a brace for the majority of my pre-teen/teenage years, and had a surgery related to my scoliosis at age ten. Though this created a number of struggles that were at the times overwhelming for myself and my family, I can now look back on it with gratitude as it is what has brought me to such a meaningful career.
Whether it be in my role as a physiotherapist or Director of Education, I have the opportunity to have an impact on other with shared experiences every day. Each massive or tiny win I am privileged to share with my clients and team members shows me the positive ripples turned tidal waves my scoliosis offered. I hope to share this with everyone I touch with in my work at The ScoliClinic!
What to expect in a session with me:
I value collaboration – I may be formally educated on scoliosis but believe each client is the expert on themselves and their life, so I ask for a lot of input when creating treatment plans.
My sessions are education-focused – I’ve found that many past “failures” with treatments come from a mis-match in understanding the “why” behind exercises or recommendations. Most people don’t do something just because someone told them to! This is reflected in all the time spent learning and exploring in treatment sessions, not just exercising or doing manual therapy. This goes both ways – we’ll have a lot more success (however that looks for you) if I can understand your “why” when it comes to getting connected with TSC.
I’m authentic – I love what I do, even when there are tricky days, I hope people who interact with me can feel that.
