Sadly, on Sunday January 14th, we received a call from the fire department informing us that a frozen sprinkler pipe had burst, resulting in significant flooding affecting the whole building housing our beloved headquarters in Vancouver. Therefore, our Main Street Clinic location will be under renovation until August 2024. Fortunately, we’ve swiftly established a wonderful longer-term temporary clinic. This space on West Broadway and Fir has been designed to emulate the environment of our Main Street location, complete with our customized ladders, equipment, and ample treatment space.

Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment out of our North Van and Surrey locations, or a telehealth appointment.

Thank you for your patience and support during this time.

The ScoliClinic is proud to offer scoliosis-specific physiotherapy services to kids, teens, and adults with scoliosis or Scheuermann's Kyphosis via the traditional format of in-person sessions, or via Virtual Physiotherapy Sessions called 'Telehealth'!

Your initial assessment will start with an in-depth conversation about you (or your child’s) scoliosis history. Next, we will do a physical assessment to gather baseline measures, explaining the significance of what we’re measuring every step of the way.

Then, we’ll explain our understanding of scoliosis - possible theories on how it starts, how it progresses, and where physiotherapy fits into the picture.

If you have an Xray image, we'll also discuss our interpretation of the image and measurements. Finally, based on our findings, your goals and personal circumstances, we’ll come up with a therapy plan that is best for you or your child.

During your 1:1 follow-up sessions with your physio, you'll learn:
- how to find good posture in your own body
- activity modifications and pain management strategies
- tips on how to move through your daily life in the most spine-friendly way
- curve-specific exercises (also known as 'autocorrections') to teach your muscles to activate in a more symmetrical and efficient way to hold your spine in an optimal alignment

Our goal is to help you feel more empowered to care for your spine, whether it's in the clinic, or in the comfort of your own home.

Each client’s X-Ray images and clinical notes from the Physiotherapist are taken into account when planning the massage sessions to address any muscular imbalances in the trunk, shoulders, pelvis, or elsewhere.

A mix of hands-on techniques will be used while maintaining a high level of hygiene and sanitization.

At the end of each massage session, clients complete Schroth exercises, core activations, or other strengthening exercises to strengthen the musculature in their newfound lengths.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age nine. I wore a brace for 3 years until I was told I would require corrective spinal fusion surgery at age 13. After two years on the surgical waitlist, I finally at received the operation at age 15. While I remained active and healthy throughout the course of my treatment, I wasn’t ever aware of options for me to actively participate in my treatment.

I discovered the work of The ScoliClinic while I was completing my Master of Physical Therapy Program at UBC, which completely changed my understanding of scoliosis treatment. I want to help the next generation of teenagers with scoliosis, so joining the team was a natural next step.
